The Thin Red Line

The Thin Red Line — written and directed by Terrence Malick. WWII Movie. 2 hours 50 minutes Color 1998.
The Story: A company of Infantrymen battle the Japanese for a South Pacific Island.

You know him at once to be unique among actors of world cinema, for one look upon Jim Caviezel and you are struck by his nobility. A rare quality in anyone. It seems to be lodged in his upper eyelids. The eyes are blue. The face handsome. But his beauty is this unforced quality. As soon as you see it, you know he is to be the focal character of this film and that, as such, his fate is sealed

The pivotal character of the story is the rest of Company C, and you will find, for instance, that the craven coward turns out to be the rashly bravest and that the insane warlord is right.

This company consists of folks from Far East Asian Islands, an enormous cast of actors and famous male actors at the peak of their talent. Nick Nolte, George Clooney, John Travolta, Adrien Brody, Woody Harrelson, Ben Chaplin, John Cusack, Elias Koteas, Jared Leto, John C. Reilley, John Savage, and, with his ever-seeking/all-knowing eye, Sean Penn.

The Thin Red Line is a masterpiece.

Avail yourself of it.
